The north side of the marina basin was experiencing heavy erosion on the raised embankment. The shipyard needed an urgent solution for the shoring up of 160 linear feet of embankment and the work had to be carried out while normal shipyard operations were in process.
We constructed a concrete riprap retaining wall using 32 tons of concrete bags and 1,500’ linear steel rebar to reinforce the retaining structure. The wall was further reinforced with adjacent stagger walls plus 14’X1” steel tie back into concrete Deadman boxes. The lower section of the retaining structure was fitted with 4” PVC pipes and Mirafi fabric to allow hydrostatic pressure release from the upland side.
